PONDA: Four persons were injured after a tempo traveller crashed into a stationary truck at Mangueshi in Mardol late Saturday night, with the driver fleeing the scene without assisting the victims.
According to police, the incident occurred on May 2 at around 11:35 pm when the accused, identified as Meninath Sawant, a resident of Tisk-Usgao, was driving a tempo traveller carrying five occupants from Ponda towards Kundaim. Upon reaching a steep stretch at Mangueshi, the vehicle rammed into the rear side of a Tata truck that had been parked on the roadside due to an electrical breakdown.
The impact left four occupants—Nagraj Hundre, Nitin Gaude, Shubham Kamble and Sudhir Sutar—with bodily injuries. They were later provided medical treatment.
Police stated that the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled the spot without offering medical assistance to the injured or informing authorities.
