CANACONA – The Annual Feast of Patron Saint of St. Anne Church, Agonda, is celebrated with great pomp and enthusiasm on Saturday.
Seven Priests concelebrated the feast mass with Fr. Kenneth Telis, Priest of Sancoale Church as the main celebrant.
Delivering his main homily celebrant of feast mass Fr Kenneth Telis (Parish Priest of Sancoale Church) called on the faithful to be the beacon of good deliverance for the families, neighborhood, and the world. ‘Let us live the life of brotherhood. Be concerned for the needs of others as much as you want others to show their concern for your requirements’
Agonda Parish Priest Fr Patrick Luis, Assistant Parish Priests From Kyriel D’souza, and Fr. Darrel Fernandes were amongst others in the concelebrated Feast mass.
Hundreds of people thronged to the fervently pray at the feet of St.Anne, the patron Saint of Agonda, in the two masses after the Nine Novenas held on different themes and celebrated and Homily delivered on respective themes by nine other Priests, primarily as visitors from Canacona deanery.
Importantly, devoting special prayers on each day of the Novenas to seeking God’s, especially St. Anne’s particular intervention to end the ongoing Ukraine-Russia war, each of Somudai’s (ward groups) as a mark of penance came walking to the church to attend the Novenas on their respective days and held special devotion.
A procession was taken on the church ground before invoking St. Anne’s blessings in the faithful while devotees lined to kiss the statue of the Patron Saint.
Later in the night, a Konkani drama ‘Pilluk’ written and directed by Fr Kyriel D’souza with the local Cast will be held in the aide of the church activities.
Interestingly, Agonda parishioners are celebrating their annual feast after two years (when the feast was observed in a subdued manner due to Covid restrictions).
Parishioners of Loliem, another Parish in Canacona deanery, also celebrated its annual feast of its Patron saint on Saturday.
