CANACONA: Canacona Police have registered an offence against three persons in connection with the death of a labourer who allegedly fell from the third floor of an under-construction building at Agonda on August 17.
According to the state complaint filed by PSI Vishal Velip of Canacona Police Station, the accused have been identified as Pramod Raikar of Curchorem and Badal Naik Gaonkar and Barsat Naik Gaonkar, both residents of Agonda.
Police allege that the accused, who were contractors/building owners, acted with common intention and failed to provide safety equipment or take necessary precautionary measures for the deceased labourer and other workers at the construction site.
The deceased has been identified as Chandra Prakash Jaunpur, a native of Uttar Pradesh. Police said he died after allegedly falling from the third floor of the under-construction building.
The complaint further alleges that the accused subsequently attempted to destroy evidence and fabricate false information regarding the incident.
Police have also alleged that the accused intentionally failed to provide information about the offence despite being legally bound to do so, provided false information to the investigating officer and allegedly threatened workers and eyewitnesses against disclosing the actual location of the incident.
Further investigation is being carried out by Canacona Police.
