KARAPUR: A three-day spiritual programme organised by Naga Sadhus began with religious fervour on Sunday at Carapur-Sarvan, with devotees gathering to participate in the ceremonies led by Param Pujya Dattapuri Datt Maharaj.
Naga Sadhus from the Juna Akhada, along with members of several other Akhadas, arrived in Carapur village on Sunday morning to take part in the spiritual event.
The programme commenced with the Naga Sadhus offering sugar to the village’s guardian deity (Rakhandar Devta). They then visited the Shri Shantadurga Temple at Carapur to seek the blessings of the deity before proceeding to the main entrance of The House of Abhinandan Lodha project, where they paid homage to the local presiding deity, performed a sacred Sankalp, and ceremonially hoisted a religious flag.
Following the flag-hoisting ceremony, the Naga Sadhus began a religious procession through Carapur village. The procession is scheduled to visit various temples across Goa before returning to Carapur later in the evening.
The sacred Havan ritual will commence on Sunday night and continue on Monday morning. Villagers have been invited to participate by offering into the sacred fire the coconuts that were earlier distributed to them during the Sankalp ceremony. A Mahaprasad (community feast) will be served after the ritual, while the Havan will continue throughout the day.
On Tuesday morning, the Naga Sadhus will visit all the temples in Carapur village. The three-day programme will conclude with a Mahaprasad in the afternoon, followed by a press conference, informed Dr. Swapnil Salelkar.
