MOPA: Three live rounds of .32 calibre were allegedly found inside the baggage of a 33-year-old passenger during security screening at Manohar International Airport (MIA), Mopa, on September 7.
According to police, the passenger, identified as Sourabh, a resident of Haryana, was travelling from Mopa to Delhi on Akasa Air flight OP1814. He was seated in 8B.
During security screening at around 10.48 am, three live rounds of .32 calibre were allegedly detected in his baggage.
Police said the passenger could not produce a valid licence or any other document authorising him to possess or carry the ammunition. He also allegedly failed to produce permission from the competent authority to carry the rounds on board the aircraft.
An offence has been registered under Section 3 read with Section 25 of the Arms Act, 1959.
A wireless message was also flashed to PCR Panaji and Porvorim. FIR copies are being forwarded to the JMFC, Pernem, and senior police officers.
Further investigation is underway.
