SHIRODA: The deliberate tearing and damaging of posters of the Goy Rakhonn Yatra in Shiroda exposes the growing fear and frustration within the BJP ranks as the Congress campaign receives an overwhelming response from the people, Media and Communication Department Chairman Amarnath Panjikar said on Saturday.
The Congress strongly condemned the alleged vandalism, stating that tearing down posters cannot weaken the people’s resolve to protect Goa, its land, identity, culture and future.
“BJP may tear our posters, but it cannot tear the voice of the people. It may try to hide the truth, but it cannot hide its failures. The more the BJP tries to suppress the Goy Rakhonn Yatra, the stronger the people’s determination to bring about change will become,” Panjikar said.
Panjikar said the incidents in Shiroda reflected the nervousness of those who had realised that people were no longer willing to tolerate what he described as the BJP’s politics of misgovernance, betrayal and neglect of Goa’s interests.
“BJP, remember this clearly — posters can be torn, banners can be removed, but the people’s mandate cannot be torn away. In 2027, the people of Shiroda will answer through the ballot. The same hands that tore the Goy Rakhonn Yatra posters will witness the people tearing apart the BJP’s political mandate and handing it to the Congress,” Panjikar warned.
Panjikar appealed to Congress workers and supporters to remain peaceful and resolute, saying that the Goy Rakhonn Yatra would continue despite alleged intimidation or attempts to disrupt the campaign.
“Goa will not bow down. Shiroda will not be silenced. Goy Rakhonn Yatra will continue — and 2027 will deliver the people’s verdict,” he said.
