CALANGUTE A 32-year-old tourist from Uttar Pradesh was arrested by Calangute Police after he was allegedly found recording videos and taking photographs of female tourists without their consent near Bandodkar Statue in Calangute.
According to police, on June 4, 2026, at around 12:05 pm, HC-6029 Arun Sawant of the Tourist Police Unit (TPU) was patrolling the area when he noticed a man allegedly filming and photographing female tourists.
When questioned, the tourist reportedly failed to provide satisfactory answers. A check of his mobile phone allegedly revealed multiple videos and photographs of women. Police said the accused admitted that the videos and photographs had been taken without the consent of the women concerned.
The accused was identified as Akash Saroj, 32, a resident of Rai Bareli, Uttar Pradesh. He was subsequently handed over to Calangute Police Station along with his mobile phone.
Calangute Police arrested the accused under preventive provisions and seized the mobile phone for further investigation. Further legal action is being pursued by the police.
