SIOLIM: A Maruti Ignis driven by a tourist went off the road and plunged into a roadside nullah near the Electricity Office at Bamon Waddo, Siolim, after the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle.
According to locals, the car was travelling at high speed from St Antony Church towards Siolim Bridge when the accident occurred.
The driver is suspected to have been under the influence of alcohol, though this has not been officially confirmed. The vehicle suffered extensive damage in the accident.
No injuries were reported. The occupants of the car reportedly abandoned the vehicle and left the spot following the incident.
Personnel from Siolim Police Outpost, along with Anjuna Police staff, reached the site. Investigation and panchanama proceedings are underway.
