PONDA—The NH road passing from Borim is narrow and often invites accidents and traffic congestion. The villagers are most inconvenienced after traffic congestion.
The traffic coming from Belgaum and Karwar Karnataka proceeded through Borim Village.
Due to the constant flow of vehicles, the congestion has become a regular feature on which Borim Villagers are demanding a solution to decongest the Village.
The NH road passing from Borim Village is too narrow. The Borim bridge located in Village connect not only North and South Goa. Further, the heavy traffic diverted from Cortalim Bridge also overburdened and overused Borim bridge due to which locals suggest new Borim bridge as any untoward incident would create a further problem.
The heavily loaded vehicles coming to Goa with transporting industrial goods, raw material, oil tankers, fuel tankers from neighbouring state passes through the Village, due to which the Borim Village road becomes one of the busiest roads.
Sometimes drivers park vehicles at the roadside for lunch or dinner and invite traffic congestion.
Even a minor accident leads to long serpentine queues making it difficult for villagers to cross the other side of the road towards their houses.
The villagers also said that the Borim bridge has weakened due to heavy traffic diversion for the past year. Villagers feel that to free the Village from traffic congestion, a new Borim bridge and bypass road is essential to decongest Borim Village.
The Borim Panchmember Sunil Sawkar has demanded with authorities to find a solution to the problem faced by villagers. He said the new Borim Bridge and Bypass roads are the solutions. For the past many years, the villagers have been demanding solutions to the problem, but the issue is not solved.
