HARVALEM: Two two-wheelers were involved in a head-on collision at Harvalem in Sanquelim this evening, leaving both riders seriously injured.
Following the accident, both riders were initially taken to the Sanquelim Primary Health Centre for medical attention. After examination, they were referred to Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim, for further treatment.
A site inspection following the accident also raised concerns over the ongoing roadwork in the area. Open sections, rods and potholes were reportedly found along the roadside, raising questions over the safety measures being maintained at the work site.
The condition of the road and the safety arrangements during the ongoing work have also brought the role of the concerned road contractor and the Public Works Department’s Roads Division under scrutiny.
