FATORDA: Fatorda Police have registered a case against two persons for allegedly forging a Special Power of Attorney and using the document to illegally transfer a property in Salcete.
The case was registered following a complaint filed by Anant Lotlikar and his wife Savitri Lotlikar, residents of Aquem Alto, Margao.
According to the complaint, between September 28, 2022, and December 1, 2022, at the Office of the Sub-Registrar, Salcete, Margao, accused Pandurang Lotlikar of Mandoppa, Navelim, acting in furtherance of a common intention with Vamanrao Verlekar of Povacao, Curtorim, allegedly forged the complainants’ signatures on a Special Power of Attorney dated September 28, 2022.
The complainants alleged that the original document was in the possession of Vamanrao Verlekar and was notarized before a notary in Margao.
They further alleged that the forged Special Power of Attorney was subsequently used as a genuine document to execute a Gift Deed on December 1, 2022, before the Office of the Sub-Registrar, Salcete, thereby illegally transferring the complainants’ property situated at São José de Areal, Salcete, in favour of Pandurang Lotlikar without their knowledge or consent.
The complainants have alleged that the act caused them wrongful loss. Further investigation is being carried out by PSI Sachin Patil of Fatorda Police Station.
