CANACONA: Two persons, including a girl, were injured after two scooters collided head-on at Burmar in Agonda on Tuesday morning.
According to sources, the girl was riding towards Khola while a youth on a recently purchased scooter was travelling in the opposite direction. When both vehicles reached the Burmar-Agonda stretch of MDR-49, the scooter heading towards Khola allegedly moved excessively to the right side of the road and crashed into the oncoming two-wheeler.
The impact threw both riders off their scooters, and they fell on opposite sides of the road. The vehicles also skidded and came to rest some distance apart.
Both riders sustained fractures to their hands along with multiple injuries and were shifted by ambulance to the Community Health Centre for treatment.
Personnel from the Agonda police outpost reached the site shortly after the incident and assisted in moving the injured into the ambulance. Police conducted a panchanama at the spot and later cleared the damaged scooters from the roadway.
Sources said the girl, a resident of Agonda, was allegedly holding a mobile phone while riding, and her scooter, moving at moderate speed, drifted towards the right side before colliding with the scooter ridden by a youth from Matvemoll-Khola.
