CALANGUTE: Two tourists from Rajasthan were booked by Calangute Police for allegedly assaulting and obstructing police personnel on duty near Union Bank, on the road leading to Baga Circle, on Monday night.
According to the complaint filed by Police Constable Sindesh Sawant, who is presently attached to the PCR vehicle of Calangute Police Station, the incident occurred around 9:35 p.m. on October 13, 2025.
The accused, identified as Baksa Ram (25) and Gautam Ram (22), both staying at Miia Bella Cottage Resort, Baga, allegedly abused and threatened Constable Sawant and PCR driver PC Sameer Mandrekar, who were on duty in the area.
The duo reportedly caught hold of and pulled the collar of PC Mandrekar while he was driving the PCR vehicle, thereby using criminal force to deter public servants from discharging their official duties.
Calangute Police have registered an offence under Sections 352, 351(2), and 132 read with 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
