New Delhi: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced that the UGC NET June 2026 examinations for English, Commerce and Sociology will be conducted again after an expert committee found multiple errors in the question papers. The decision follows several complaints from candidates who appeared for the examinations held between June 22 and 30, with a supplementary test conducted on July 5.
According to the NTA, the review committee identified numerous factual, typographical and translation errors, including misspelled names of prominent scholars, incorrect book titles, flawed question wording, grammatical and punctuation mistakes, non standard terminology and the repetition of several questions from previous examinations. The agency said the re examination was necessary to ensure a fair, accurate and error free assessment process.
The revised schedule places the English examination on September 9 from 9 am to 12 pm, Commerce on September 9 from 3 pm to 6 pm, and Sociology on September 10 from 9 am to 12 pm. The NTA clarified that no additional examination fee will be charged for candidates appearing in the re test, while details regarding exam cities, centres and admit cards will be announced separately.
The agency also confirmed that the provisional answer keys for the remaining 84 subjects have been released and their results will be declared as scheduled. It added that the allocation of Junior Research Fellowship seats and issuance of e certificates for those subjects will not be delayed due to the reconduct of the three papers.
