MARGAO: An unidentified man, believed to be around 40 years old, was found unconscious near the Margao Railway Station area and was later declared brought dead at South Goa District Hospital (SGDH), police said.
According to information received by Margao Town Police Station on May 30, 2026, casualty staff at SGDH informed police that the man had been shifted to the hospital by a 108 emergency ambulance service from the vicinity of the railway station. Doctors subsequently declared him brought dead.
During preliminary inquiries, police learned that the deceased was believed to be a beggar who frequently stayed in the Margao Railway Station area. Investigators also gathered information suggesting that he was known to consume alcohol and often slept on the footpath near the station.
The identity and residential details of the deceased remain unknown.
Police have preserved the body at SGDH, Margao, pending identification and completion of medico-legal formalities, including a post-mortem examination.
