MARGAO: An unidentified man, believed to be around 50 years old, died while undergoing treatment at Goa Medical College (GMC), Bambolim, police said.
According to information received from the Casualty Police at GMC on June 20, 2026, at around 3:31 pm, the man was declared dead during treatment.
During inquiries, police learned that the deceased had been referred to GMC from South Goa District Hospital (SGDH), Margao. He was reportedly found lying near the Margao Railway Station and was later shifted for medical treatment.
Further investigation revealed that the man was believed to be a beggar and a chronic alcoholic who had been found sleeping within the premises of Margao Railway Station before being taken to hospital.
The body has been preserved at GMC, Bambolim, to facilitate medico-legal formalities and efforts to establish the deceased’s identity.
Further inquiry is being conducted by PSI Sanjay Velip of Margao Town Police Station.
