Panaji- Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat said that the Union budget has absolutely nothing to uplift the common man and the marginalised sector from the huge financial burdens on them after the collapse of economy post breakdown of Covid Pandemic.
The economically weaker section is completely let down by the Government with most of the budget proposals focusing on Pro–Crony Capitalist Schemes, stated Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat.
“Although the Union Finance Minister has announced grants of Rs. 300 Crores for 60 years. Celebrations of Liberation of Goa, I demand that the Chief Minister must immediately announce a package of Rs. 100 Crores for the revival of marginalised sector,” Kamat said.
He said that today, the traditional occupationists like Motorcycle Pilots, Rickshaw, Pickup, Tempo Drivers, Khajekars, Fulkars, Chanekars, Render and Poders, Kakankars, Nustekars, Mechanics, Barbers, Cobblers and others are all anxiously awaiting financial package from the Government Digambar Kamat claimed.
He also said that there are no likely chances of fuel prices coming down in the near future.
He said that the share of the Central Taxes have been reduced by almost Rs. 900 Crores with the budget estimates for 2021 were shown at Rs. 3026 which has now been revised to Rs. 2100 Crores. This will severely impact the finances of the State claimed Digambar Kamat.
“The Union Budget presented by the finance minister today appears to be an election propaganda package for the three States of West Bengal, Tamil Nadu and Kerela going to polls in next few months. The people from all across the Nation were expecting some announcement giving them relief from the huge losses which they suffered during the Covid Lockdown, unfortunately the finance minister has not come out with any such scheme,” stated Digambar Kamat.
He said Goa is already passing through financial emergency due to faulty policies of the Government. The Government is on a Borrowing Spree on one side and is on a Mission of Celebrations on the other side. It is high time that the Government adopt to austerity measures before it is too late said Digambar Kamat.
There is nothing with regards to generating employment to the youth in the budget. There is no focus on revival of MSME Sector, claimed Digambar Kamat.
