PANAJI: The Union Ministry stry of Road Transport and Highways has notified acquiring of 2.3566 Hectare for building, (widening/four lanning etc.), Maintenance, Management and operation of National Highway No.66 on the stretch of land from Km. 602.900 to Km. 610/900 i.e. (End of Canacona Bypass to Pollem) at Loliem Village of Canacona.
The ministry had earlier sought objections from public regarding the land acquisition. The final land acquisition notified today has been prepared considering the objections and suggestions.
“Central Government hereby declares that on publication of this notification in the Official Gazette, the land specified in the said Schedule shall vest absolutely in the Central Government, free from all encumbrances,” the notice adds.
In his budget speech, the Chief Minister had further announced that funds to the tune of Rs 281 crore will be spent for land acquisition for the proposed Cuncolim bypass.
The official further pointed out that the highway expansion from Cuncolim to Navelim would be a four-lane highway with pedestrian footpaths.
Around 24 hectares of land along the Cuncolim-Navelim stretch of the highway has already been acquired by the PWD, NH long ago.
