PANAJI: The United Tribal Association Alliance (UTAA) will celebrate its two-decade journey with a rally at Goa College of Engineering (GEC), Farmagudi.
Speaking at a news conference, Govind Gaude, Minister of Sports, Art and Culture, and Rural Development, stated that UTAA will adopt a resolution that has been lingering for years and calls for political reservation for Scheduled Tribes.
“Efforts have been made from Panjim to Delhi,” Gaude remarked in response to a question on whether members of Scheduled Tribes would receive political reservations in the Goa Legislative assembly prior to the 2027 polls. In the event that nothing occurs, the question will be addressed later. However, there will undoubtedly be certain topics covered at the event on November 10.
“To date, there has not been groupism in UTTA, and this will not happen in the future either,” the minister responded when asked about splits inside the organization. UTTA is independent of any one leader. The support of its regular members keeps it afloat. Future arrivals and departures have little to do with UTTA, which has toiled tirelessly without achieving any political traction. It has consistently promoted the well-being of laborers and farmers.
“Eight years ago, UTTA introduced the name Birsa Munda to every Goan home, and the Goa government subsequently began commemorating his anniversary,” he stated. Additionally, he stated that UTTA has no rivals.
“The building is not a society issue, but the government needs it as many departments are operating from rented premises,” he stated in response to the call for the construction of Tribal Bhavan.
