VASCO: A case of cheating has been registered at Vasco Police Station, involving two individuals who allegedly defrauded a local businessman and his partners of Rs. 26.15 lakh.
The complaint, filed by Rupesh Sadashiv Dabolkar, a resident of Vasco, Goa, states that between July 28, 2021, and July 20, 2022, the accused persons, identified as Capt. Selvaraj from Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu, and Prashant Gajanan Shelke from Sangli, Maharashtra, persuaded him and his business partners to invest in a real estate venture.
The accused assured the victims of a fivefold return on their investment. However, the promised returns never materialized, and the accused failed to refund the invested amount.
The police have registered the case under Section 420 read with 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), dealing with cheating and criminal conspiracy. The investigation is currently being led by PSI Rohan B. Madgaonkar of Vasco Police Station.
