VASCO: The iconic “Tourist Hostel” of Vasco, managed by the Goa Tourism Development Corporation, will soon get a new facelift and a total revamp
The prime property located in the heart of the City over 4 decades will soon get a lease of life and enhance the business activities further in the port town.
Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar speaking to reporters on Thursday afternoon, said that he had been assured by Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte said that the project would be taken up soon
“After many years of utter neglect, the iconic “Tourist Hotel”, now known as Vasco Residency in the heart of Vasco city, will now get a completely fresh look and a total revamp says Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar. Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte has assured me to give the property a new lease of life very soon,” said Salkar.
“The Vasco Residency building is very old and has been operating for over 4 decades. The situation of this premises has been deteriorating over the years, and we see that portions of the ceiling also fall at times. The property is not fully functional, and their hall is not operational today, and it is sad to see that the complex in such a prime location in the heart of the City is in bad shape,” said Salkar.
“We always wanted to re-develop the place and bring it back to its olden glory, and I immediately placed the proposal to the Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte to redevelop this prime property after I was elected as the MLA. Goa is a tourist state, and the tourism activity has increased manifold at Baina Beach with thousands of visitors; this place, Vasco Residency, can provide very good staying facilities from the Government side for these tourists if redeveloped,” Said Salkar.
“Khaunte had assured me to prioritise the project and instructed his officials to carry out an inspection and submit a report to him. Khaunte has now assured me that the Vasco Residency will be taken for redevelopment, and I am extremely confident that this redeveloping project will be taken up very soon,’ said Salkar.
