ARAMBOL: In a disturbing incident that unfolded on Wednesday, in the Harmal area of Arambol, Goa, a group of tourists from Vengurla, Maharashtra, were severely assaulted by local residents.
The altercation began when the tourists were found drinking in a public place, a practice that apparently sparked a confrontation with the locals.
According to police reports, the tourists were initially taken to the primary health centre in Tuem for treatment, but due to the severity of their injuries, they were later shifted to the district hospital in Mapusa.
As their condition required further medical attention, they were eventually moved to the Goa Medical College Hospital in Bambolim late in the night.
The incident came to light when the Mandrem police rushed to the scene and conducted a preliminary investigation.
