MARGAO: Benaulim MLA Capt. Venzy Viegas, along with several alleged victims of an overseas job scam, met South Goa Superintendent of Police Akshat Ayush on Thursday, seeking action against a Margao-based woman accused of collecting around Rs 50 lakh from people on the promise of providing jobs abroad.
According to the complainants, the woman allegedly collected money from several individuals by promising them overseas employment but failed to fulfil her assurances.
The affected individuals claimed that despite approaching the police and filing complaints, no action had been taken so far.
Frustrated over the alleged delay, the complainants approached Benaulim MLA Capt. Venzy Viegas and sought his intervention in the matter.
Viegas subsequently accompanied them to meet SP Akshat Ayush, where he raised concerns over the alleged lack of action despite complaints being lodged with the police.
The MLA urged the police department to look into the grievances of the affected individuals and ensure that their complaints are taken seriously.
The complainants have sought a thorough investigation into the alleged fraud and appropriate action against those responsible.
