VERNA: A 41-year-old man was arrested by Verna Police after allegedly being found in possession of 1.362 kg of ganja valued at approximately ₹1.36 lakh during a late-night narcotics raid at Zuarinagar in Sancoale.
The accused, identified as Nandkishor Ray, a native of Gram-Amdiha, Post-Parjori Sarwan in Jharkhand and currently residing at Fatima Manzil near Blinkit, Zuarinagar, was apprehended during the operation conducted opposite Bay Village Residential Complex between 10.05 pm and 11.40 pm on Thursday.
According to police, the raid was carried out based on specific and reliable information. During the search, officers allegedly recovered 1.362 kg of ganja, estimated to be worth ₹1,36,200, from the accused’s possession. The contraband was seized under panchanama after following the mandatory provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Based on a complaint filed by PSI Carey Fernandes, Verna Police registered Crime No. 68/2026 under Section 20(b)(ii)(B) of the NDPS Act. The accused was arrested and remains in police custody.
Further investigation is being conducted by PSI Prisley Carvalho under the supervision of PI Anand Shirodkar and the guidance of Mormugao DySP Gurudas Kadam.
