VASCO: In a prompt and well-coordinated operation, Verna Police rescued a minor girl who was allegedly kidnapped from Zuarinagar, Sancoale, and safely reunited her with her parents after tracing her through technical surveillance.
According to police, the girl’s mother, whose identity has been withheld to protect the identity of the minor, lodged a complaint stating that her daughter had been kidnapped by an unknown person from her lawful guardianship at around 3 pm on June 27 from MES College Road in Zuarinagar.
Following the complaint, Verna Police registered a case under Section 137(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 8 of the Goa Children’s Act and immediately launched an investigation.
During the course of the probe, investigators used technical surveillance to trace the location of a person believed to be accompanying the missing girl. Acting swiftly on the leads, a team from Verna Police Station traced the minor, rescued her safely and brought her to the police station for further inquiry.
After completing the necessary legal formalities and verifying the circumstances, the police handed over the custody of the rescued girl to her parents.
The investigation is being carried out by PSI Mahesh Bhomkar under the supervision of PI Anand Shirodkar and the guidance of Mormugao DySP Gurudas Kadam.
