PANAJI: Goa Forward Party (GFP) President and Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai has been conferred the People’s Award 2026 as International Politician of the Year at the House of Commons in London, United Kingdom.
Accepting the award, Sardesai dedicated the honour to the people of Goa, saying their trust and support have continued to inspire his public service. He said the recognition strengthened his resolve to fight for the rights of Goans across the world, including the global Goan diaspora, and to continue pursuing the long-standing demand for dual citizenship for Goans.
“I dedicate this recognition to the people of Goa, whose trust and support continue to inspire my public service. This honour strengthens my resolve to keep fighting for the rights of Goans everywhere, including our global diaspora, and to pursue the long-standing cause of dual citizenship for Goans,” Sardesai said.
The Goa Forward Party described the recognition as a historic moment for Goa on the global stage, stating that the award reflects the resilience of the Goan identity and the party’s commitment to protecting Goa’s culture, values and way of life.
Expressing gratitude, Sardesai thanked everyone who had been part of his journey and said he would continue working towards a stronger and more inclusive future for Goa and Goans across the world.
