FATORDA: President of the Goa Forward Party (GFP), Vijai Sardesai, has written to the government requesting that it resolve the ongoing problems that Kadamba Transport Corporation (KTC) is facing. Sardesai has insisted that action be taken quickly to address the concerns brought up by the KTC employees, from fleet management of the electric buses to regularization of temporary drivers.
To guarantee the dependability of Goa’s transportation services, Sardesai has pursued a detailed plan to replace the 184 buses that were judged unfit for service with 250 new buses.
Sardesai stated, “The corporation’s ability to serve the existing routes efficiently has been severely impacted by the declaration of scrap for a significant portion of the KTC fleet.”
Additionally, he stated that the 34-month arrears of the 7th Pay Commission owed to all KTC employees should be paid out immediately and that the wage settlement with the KTC Drivers and Allied Employees Association must be signed as soon as possible.
According to Sardesai, the problems raised have an effect on both the standard of living for the workers and the effectiveness of Goa’s public transit system.
Additionally, he stated that all temporary drivers and conductors who have worked for KTC for longer than two years must have their services regularized by the government. The temporary drivers’ and conductors’ monthly pay ought to be raised to Rs 25,500.
“We need to stop using outside contractors to handle profitable interstate routes right away. For the purpose of maximizing earnings and improving service standards, KTCL ought to run these routes using brand-new, opulent Volvo buses, according to Sardesai.
Additionally, he stated that KTCL personnel are required to operate and staff electric buses.
