SALIGAO: In a noble gesture, the youth of Saligao felicitated the team of waste management workers who help keep the village clean with daily collection and disposal to the treatment plant.
The youth, led by social worker Ramesh Ghadi, Pradeep Parulekar, Kamlesh Dhargalkar and others felicitated the four workers Rama, Shayoon, Tar Ali and Ranzan Habib.
Ghadi said the team who helps keep Saligao village clean and they are most dedicated workers.
“They work tirelessly to keep the village clean. Early morning they go around our village to collect our garbage,” he stated.
He said that while emptying the wet garbage in the vehicle many of us hold our noses so that we may not get that stinking odour, however, these people collect waste from each and every house.
“It’s the toughest job than any other job we do and they never complain about it,” he said.
Today the team was felicitated and gifted a 25 kg bag of grocery items each.
“Their happy faces made us happier than them. What we gave them as a gift is nothing compared to what they do for our village. We should be thankful to them.. treat them with respect. We tried showing our gratitude in our little way,” Ghadi said.
Ghadi thanked Chanu Chodankar from Calangute who gave us a helping hand to sponsor this bag of goodies.
