New Delhi: The psychological battle has already begun ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026 semifinal between Spain and France, with players from both sides exchanging confident remarks before their high stakes showdown.
The two European powerhouses will meet in a World Cup semifinal for only the second time in history, with a place in the final at stake. France head coach Didier Deschamps has described reigning European champions Spain as the favourites, while several Spanish players have expressed confidence based on their recent record against Les Bleus.
Spain have won their last two competitive meetings against France, including a 2-1 victory in the UEFA Euro 2024 semifinal and a thrilling 5-4 win in the UEFA Nations League semifinal last year. Their only previous World Cup meeting came in 2006, when France secured a 3-1 victory.
