While it is an excellent initiative to give justice to any women, one wonders why the State government is dragging its feet on the Siddhi Naik case.
There is ample evidence in the Siddhi Naik case that it was not a suicide. Why was her body in a semi-nude position? Where are her clothes? How did the body reach Calangute beach?
An innocent life was lost, and the guilty are roaming freely due to the sheer negligence of the police and the doctors who conducted the autopsy at Goa Medical College.
This was only because she was the daughter of an ordinary man, not a politician or businessman. Else, the story would have been different.
But this raises a bigger question: Can only the high and mighty get justice?

Maybe it sounds strange, but a true story; while the State government seems to be going all out to nab the conspirators in the Haryana native Sonali Phogat case as her family demands justice, the calls of the parents of Goa’s own daughter Siddhi Naik for justice seems to have fallen on deaf ears.
Since the death or the alleged murder of Sonali
Phogat case, the government has not left any stone overturned to solve the case. Phogat was allegedly killed by a drug overdose by her own colleagues.
After the demand of the Haryana government and Khap panchayat, the case was handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigations. The CBI is currently in Goa and trying to recreate a scene and conduct further investigations.

The Goa police have enough proof to investigate and take the case to a logical conclusion, but alas, there is no political pressure from Delhi, nor Siddhi’s parents are influential enough to pressurise the Dr Pramod Sawant government to hand over the case to CBI.
Contrastingly, the Goa Police were in a hurry to file a closure report in Siddhi’s case.
Does Sonali Phogat deserve justice only because she was a BJP leader? Is Siddhi Naik not Goa’s daughter?
Right from day one, the police had closed down the case as suicide, and all the evidence was destroyed after the body was cremated.
No viscera and no swabs were retained as police did not ask for the same. So there is no chance of any evidence coming from anywhere.
The only thing which could solve the mystery was the clothes of Siddhi, which she was wearing. The police have not been able to trace the clothes yet – what a shame.
In the last year, police have only harassed the victim’s father, cousin and boyfriend.
Police say they have checked all CCTVs but found no clue.
See the contrasting difference, Siddhi Naik’s family criticises investigations; he is harassed, while Sonali Phogat’s brother calls out Goa Police for a shoddy investigation, and his plea for CBI investigations is considered.
Why is the government dilly-dallying handing the case to special agencies like the Crime Branch or CBI?
Or is it that the police know the culprit and shielding him due to political pressure?
