BETUL: The Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant today said that efforts would be made to bring back documents related to Goan history from Portugal.
Sawant said directions are already been issued to the Minister archives and archeology Subhash Phal Desai to take the initiative in retrieving historical documents related to the state from the erstwhile Portuguese rulers of Goa. He said that if need arise, Minister will even travel to Portugal.
Sawant was speaking at an event to commemorate the coronation of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj at the Betul.
“There are many documents that are still in Portugal. I have already told the concerned minister and the department that they should contact the Ministry of External Affairs and bring back all the documents related to Goa from Portugal,” the Chief Minister said.
“These documents can be put to good use by historians and for historical research,” he added.
