CALANGUTE: Calangute Police have registered a case against a man and his associates for allegedly trespassing into a wine shop, assaulting two persons, vandalising property and stealing cash and liquor worth several lakhs.
According to police, the complaint was lodged by Vishav Nath, 36, a resident of Gurdaspur, Punjab. The incident allegedly took place at around 5.20 pm on July 7 at Guddu Wine Store in Gaurawado, Calangute.
Police said the main accused, identified as Aditya Hadagalli, along with his workers, allegedly entered the wine shop with a common intention, assaulted the complainant and his cousin Sikander Malpotra, who was at the cash counter, and damaged liquor bottles kept on the shelves causing an estimated loss of around ₹2.5 lakh.
The complaint further states that the accused allegedly stole approximately ₹15,000 from the cash counter, abused the victims using filthy language and threatened them with dire consequences.
Police also alleged that the accused and his associates loaded liquor bottles of various brands into a tempo and fled with stock valued at around ₹7 lakh.
Calangute Police have registered Crime No. 98/2026 under Sections 329, 352, 305, 324(4), 115(2), 351(2) read with Section 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023. A notice under Section 35(3) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023 has been issued to the accused.
During the course of the investigation, police recovered liquor bottles worth approximately ₹1.5 lakh. Further investigation is being carried out by PSI Snehal Malik.
