Margao: Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat has urged the South Goa Collector to withdraw permission for work on level crossings at Nessai and Chandor failing which could lead to law and order problem.
“This is to bring to your notice that there is strong opposition to the three Mega Projects proposed by the government namely Railway Double Tracking, Widening of National Highway and Laying of Power Transmission Line as these projects will cause severe damage to the Environment,” he said in a letter to Collector.
Kamat further stated that the people of Goa are now coming on roads protesting against the government decision to allow the South Western Railway / Railway Vikas Nigam Ltd to carry out the work of Double Tracking. Strong protests were made during the closure of the Level Crossing Road at Nessai on 28th October 2020.
“The protests will continue during the next Scheduled Closure of Level Crossing Road at Guirdolim, Chandor on 2nd November 2020 & at Davorlim Village on 9th November 2020. There is every possibility that the strong opposition to the Double Tracking work may lead to Law and Order problem,” he said.
In view of the above, Kamat requested collector to immediately withdraw the permission granted to the South Western Railway /Railway Vikas Nigam Ltd for closure of Level Crossing Road and also instruct them to stop all such works pertaining to doubling of Railway
