CANACONA: Canacona Police have registered a case against a woman for allegedly driving her car in a rash and negligent manner, resulting in a collision with a scooter and injuries to two women.
According to a State complaint filed by HC Anand Pagi (Buckle No. 5909) of Canacona Police Station, the accident occurred on June 6, 2026, at around 12:10 p.m. near Bhatpal Church, Bhatpal, Canacona.
Police stated that the accused, Sunita Furtado e D’Sa, a resident of Sadolxem, Canacona, was driving a Swift car from Canacona towards Poinguinim when she allegedly drove on the wrong side of the road in a rash and negligent manner, without taking proper care and caution, thereby endangering human life.
The car allegedly collided head-on with an oncoming Activa scooter ridden by Nikhita Velip, with Radhika Velip, both residents of Dabel, Poinguinim, Canacona, travelling as the pillion rider. The impact caused both women to fall onto the road and sustain bodily injuries.
Police said that Radhika Velip, the pillion rider, was admitted to Goa Medical College (GMC), Bambolim, for treatment.
A case has been registered under Sections 281 and 125(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and further investigation is being carried out by HC Anand Pagi of Canacona Police Station.
