VASCO: A fatal workplace accident has been reported from an under-construction Indian Navy project site located behind the Vasco Police Station, where a worker died after suffering electrocution during duty.
According to an enquiry conducted into Vasco Police Station UD No. 26/2026 under Section 194 of BNSS, an offence has been registered based on a complaint filed by PSI Akanksh Fadte Dessai of Vasco Police Station.
The incident occurred on 26 May 2026 at around 18:15 hrs, when construction work was underway at the site. It is alleged that the contractor Saurav and site supervisor Ranbir Singh, both residents of Himachal Pradesh, failed to provide adequate safety equipment and did not ensure proper safety measures for workers engaged at the project.
Investigators stated that due to alleged negligence and failure to maintain workplace safety standards, one worker identified as Sulo Kumar Ram sustained electrocution injuries while working and later succumbed to his injuries.
Both accused persons — the contractor responsible for execution of the project and the site supervisor responsible for on-site safety — have been booked for alleged omissions and negligence.
Further investigation into the circumstances of the accident is being carried out by PSI Akanksh Fadte Dessai of Vasco Police Station. Police are examining safety compliance records and witness statements to determine accountability in the case.
