An 18-year-old youth was found dead at Old Mardol, Verna, on Sunday morning, following which Verna Police initiated an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the death.
Police said they received information at around 7:45 am on April 26 about a youth lying motionless in the area. A team rushed to the spot and confirmed the death.
The deceased has been identified as Chandrhash Oraon (18), a native of Jharkhand who was residing at Old Mardol, Verna.
Preliminary inquiry revealed that the youth had recently returned to Goa on April 22 and had taken up employment with a company in Verna.
An inquest panchanama was conducted at the scene, and the body has been preserved at South Goa District Hospital (SGDH), Margao, for post-mortem and further medico-legal formalities.
Verna Police have registered a case of unnatural death, and further inquiry is in progress under PSI Prisly Carvalho.
