COLVALE: Acting on a tip-off, the Colvale Police arrested a 27-year-old man in the early hours of Thursday for possession of ganja worth Rs 1.1 lakh. The raid was carried out between 1:40 am and 4:25 am at the parking area of the Sports Complex in Colvale.
The accused, identified as Pankaj Kumar, son of Ramvirodh Malli, is a native of Sonbhadra district in Uttar Pradesh and currently resides behind SBI Bank in Cansa, Thivim, Bardez.
During the raid, police seized 1.1 kilograms of ganja, a yellow Dio scooter bearing registration number GA-03-AC-4880, and a mobile phone believed to have been used in the commission of the crime.
A case has been registered at Colvale Police Station under Crime No. 37/2025 for offences punishable under Section 20(b)(ii)(B) of the NDPS Act. The accused is currently in police custody.
The raid was led by PI Sanjit Kandolkar, along with PSI Rohan Madgaonkar, PSI Swanand Prabhu, HC Pandurang Naik, and PCs Pravin Patil and Nikhil Naik of Colvale Police Station. The investigation is being handled by PSI Swanand Prabhu.
The entire operation was conducted under the supervision of SDPO Mapusa Wilson D’Souza and SP North Goa Rahul Gupta, IPS.
