Valpoi: Around 100 girl students, parents and faculty members today participated in a Breast Cancer Awareness webinar, which was organised by Govt Higher Secondary School, Valpoi to celebrate the Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The teachers, students and parents from various other government higher secondary schools also participated in it.
The webinar was held by Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan’s NSQF project, which has been providing skill training to the students in primary and higher secondary school.
Dr Shekhar Salkar, Onco-Surgeon,chief dept of oncology,Manipal Hospitals Goa, shared a detailed presentation on the breast cancer causes, symptoms and cure.
With the clear message that “early detection saves life, saves breast and will have less financial burden on the lady” Dr Salkar explained about various methods including “breast self examination “to know the early diagnosis of breast cancer.
The presentation was followed by an intriguing Q&A session from students, their parents and teachers. The hour-long session was moderated by teacher Leena Kalangutkar while Ms Nikita Desai & Dr Gauresh Naik coordinated the event. Ms Nikita also welcomed the guests and presented vote of thanks for being a part of the online event.
