PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today said that Goa saw a total of 115 murder cases from January 2020 to June 2023.
This information was given in a written reply by CM Pramod Sawant to a question raised in the assembly over incidents involving serious crimes such as drug-related offences, murders and shootings.
During the period, 506 narcotic drug-related cases and 10 cases of shooting were registered in Goa.
Sawant said drug-related offences have significantly reduced in the state and the police are steadfast in their commitment towards a ”zero tolerance policy” against narcotics.
Sawant said citizens and authorities must unite to raise awareness and combat the global menace.
“The Goa police remains steadfast in its commitment to a zero-tolerance policy against illegal drugs, implementing precautionary and remedial measures to curb drug trafficking within the state,” he said.
Through stringent actions against both peddlers and users, the prevalence of drug-related offences has significantly reduced, the chief minister said.
