Reacting to the protest on TCP, the Minister Vishwajit Rane today said that they are against him because he is a strong leader of the BJP.
“They are targeting me because I am strong leader of the BJP. You cannot run the government depending on the protestors. I have already made my stand clear on 17)2) section of TCP,” said Vishwajit Rane
He further said that some opposition leaders have taken benefit of section 17(2) of TCP Act.
“I know Yuri Alemao from the time when he was young boy. I will tell the name on the proper forum, Assembly is the proper forum,” said Rane
Rane said that there is stay of six weeks on it and government have a time of six weeks to approach the supreme court.
“Ultimately, it is a legal matter. The matter is subjudice. I should not speak much on it. When it is still subjudice government is within its right to approach the other court which we have mentioned,” he added
Rane said that he still feels it requires application of mind because it involves sentiments.
According to his statement, the government will look into ways to draft new regulations and bylaws for Section 17(2) of the TCP Act, which was read down by the Bombay High Court in Goa in a ruling it rendered on Thursday.
Rane claimed to have met with BJP State President Damodar (Damu) Naik and Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to discuss the High Court’s ruling, its ramifications, and the government’s choices in-depth.
In order to incorporate the opinions and advice found in the High Court’s ruling into the new rules and bylaws pertaining to Section 17(2), he stated that he has scheduled a meeting of the TCP Board.
