VALPOI: Valpoi Police have registered a case after a Karnataka-based driver was allegedly caught transporting 1,800 kg of red-coloured meat without the required documents at the BCP in Keri, Sattari.
According to the complaint filed by PC-7779 Mahendra Sakhalkar of Valpoi Police Station, the incident occurred at around 7 am on August 10 at BCP Keri.
Police identified the accused as 25-year-old Mehbub Sab Bagale, a resident of Ankalgi, Belagavi, Karnataka. He was allegedly intercepted while driving an Ashok Leyland Dost bearing registration number KA-22-AB-2230.
The meat, weighing approximately 1,800 kg and valued at around ₹3.40 lakh, was allegedly being transported without a bill or authority letter from the competent authority.
Valpoi Police have registered Crime No. 35/2026 under Section 325 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 8 of the Goa Animal Preservation Act, 1995.
Further investigation is being conducted by ASI Mahadev Gawas of Valpoi Police Station.
