PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that a total 26 cases of land grabbing/scam have been disposed off.
“Total 26 cases of land grabbing/scam have been disposed off. The investigation of land grabbing cases involves forged documents/old Portuguese documents, which are required to be examined thoroughly,” said Sawant
He further said that, the investigation also includes collection of related documents from other Government agencies and scrutinizing the same as per the requirement of case.
“In some cases documents are also need to be sent for expert examination and for the opinion of the expert to ascertain the genuineness of the document which is a lengthy process. Therefore sufficient time is required for investigation,” he added
Chief Minister also said that a total 50 cases of land grabbing/scam are under investigation.
“During the year 2022 and current year up to 30.06.2023, total 46 accused have been arrested which includes 06 Public Servants; Action will be taken in accordance with law,” he said
he investigations have revealed that a total of 1,69,000 square metre property have fraudulently changed hands, primarily in the Bardez tehsil of Goa.
There are 18 instances in Badem and 22 instances in Assagao. Together the two parishes make up 40 of the 69 cases of fraud sale deeds that have been found so far.
Of this the present-day descendants of Antonio Diniz — Branca Rodrigues, Royson Rodrigues, Paulina Diniz and Mariano Teles Gonsalves– have cornered 53,775 sq m of land, or one third of the land under investigation across the villages of Badem and Assagao.
