PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today said that 325 touts have been booked in the last three years from Calangute, Baga and Sinquerim belt.
As per CM Sawant, 1 tout was booked in 2020, 648 in 2021, 422 in 2022 and 325 in 2023 till June 30.
“Whenever any touting activity is noticed necessary action as per the law is initiated against the defaulters,” said Sawant
He further said that all touts were produced before the Director of Tourism under the Tourist and Trade Act for further necessary action.
“No database of touts is maintained by Police department,” said Sawant.
Around 400 persons have been arrested since the beginning of the year following complaints that tourists were being harassed and cheated by touts, Calangute police said.
