PANJIM: A quadruple involving four tourists at Vagator beach were rescued by Drishti Lifeguards Amit Shinde, BSP Vijay Parab and Rudresh Mahale.
At 1330 hours yesterday (Tuesday) a group of four in the ages of 27-33 entered the waters at Vagator beach. Lifeguards on duty alerted them of the sea conditions not being safe. Despite repeated warning, the group stayed in the waters. The lifeguards decided to remain close and continued patrolling around the area.
As had been warned, soon one of the group got caught in a rip current and was pulled far away from the shore. His call for help prompted his friends to rush to his aid but as the current was strong, they too got caught in the rip current.
The lifeguards now alerted by the commotion rushed immediately with rescue boards and tube to assist the four. The group was brought back safely. Meanwhile lifeguards on shore had called for an ambulance as one person was breathless, oxygen was administered by the team while the ambulance was en route. On arrival he was shifted to the hospital in the ambulance.
