CUNCOLIM: A 47-year-old man from Cuncolim died after reportedly vomiting blood at his residence on August 15. The deceased has been identified as Ramesh Ajetrao, a resident of IDC Cuncolim and a native of Solapur, Maharashtra.
Police said that at around 10.23 pm, they received information from PHC Balli that Ajetrao had been brought to the health centre by 108 ambulance personnel and was declared brought dead by the doctor on duty.
During the enquiry, family members told police that Ajetrao had been lying at home when he suddenly vomited blood. He was subsequently taken to PHC Balli for medical treatment.
Police further learnt that he was a chronic alcoholic, had liver damage and was also suffering from blood pressure-related ailments.
An inquest panchanama was conducted before the body was referred to SGDH, Margao, for post-mortem examination. Following the autopsy, the Police Surgeon certified the cause of death as “Hemorrhagic shock consequent to ruptured esophageal varices in a person with cirrhosis of liver and diseased lungs.”
After completion of the medico-legal formalities, the body was handed over to the family for the final religious rites.
