SACORDA: A 55-year-old Goa Dairy employee drowned in the Ragada River at Sacorda after being swept away by a strong water current while attempting to swim across the river.
The deceased has been identified as Krishna alias Kushali, son of Sada Mapari, a resident of Panshi, Sacorda, Dharbandora. He was unmarried and worked as a Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) employee at Goa Dairy in Ponda.
According to the information available, Krishna, along with his friends, had gone to the bank of the Ragada River in Sacorda village for a day outing on August 12. At around 6.30 pm, he entered the river to swim and cross it.
After reaching the middle of the river, he attempted to return to the bank when he was swept away by a strong water current.
A search operation was immediately launched with the assistance of the Fire and Emergency Services personnel. However, he could not be located during the initial search.
His body was recovered from the river today and shifted to South Goa District Hospital (SGDH), Margao, for medico-legal formalities.
