PONDA: A 65-year-old woman from Mardol, Ponda, died at the casualty department of Goa Medical College (GMC), Bambolim, following injuries sustained in a fall at her residence.
According to Mardol Police, a wireless message was received from GMC Bambolim casualty police on September 2, 2026, at around 10.27 am, informing them that Durga Naik, a resident of Mardol, had expired.
During the enquiry, police found that Naik had been admitted to Ward No. 108 after reportedly suffering a fall at her residence.
Police said she was suffering from diabetes and hypertension and was under regular medication. She was also undergoing psychiatric treatment.
Mardol Police visited GMC Bambolim and conducted an inquest panchanama over the body. The deceased was subsequently referred for a post-mortem examination.
Following the autopsy, the Police Surgeon certified the cause of death as “Head injury consequent to blunt force impact by surface and/or object.”
The body was later handed over to the family members for final religious rites.
The enquiry is being conducted by PSI Anish Naik of Mardol Police Station.
