In a major checking drive by PI Calangute Laxi Amonkar of suspected persons carried out in North Goa over the New Year’s Eve a total of 16 suspected persons with 65 suspected stolen mobile phones and 1 laptop have been recovered.
The owners of these stolen phones are being identified and intimated so that phones can be returned through Swift legal disposal. Most victims are tourists.
The profile of the accused persons are that they are separate groups of pick pockets and thieves who tried to take advantage of the huge tourist inflow during new years time period and carry out thefts.
