CANACONA: An Aadhar Enrollment Centre from 1st October, and consideration of a new Administrative Complex in Canacona were promised by Chief Minister Dr Promod Sawant in a meeting with Canacona taluka heads of all the government offices, before reviewing the status of all departmental buildings and giving directions to relocate and refurbish some of the Offices facing space-crunch and functioning in some private buildings as a temporary and stop-gap arrangements.
Asking all the officers to speak and behave properly with the public, the Chief Minister also advocated to consider building a comprehensive and spacious Administrative Building to house all the administrative offices under one roof in the Canacona taluka.
On the sidelines of his visit to inaugurate Ravindra Bhavan at Canacona, Chief Minister Dr Promod Sawant chaired a meeting with Canacona taluka heads of all the government offices and reviewed the status of all departmental buildings,
After reviewing the status of all the 124 government buildings also sought to identify buildings which need improvement like renovation, refurbishment or repairs, especially offices which are visited by the public.
Chief Minister directed the concerned in the presence of Collector (South) Ashvin Chandru, IAS to complete all the refurbish, repair or renovate all structures needing attention in 3 months.
“I will come on December 1 to Canacona and inaugurate all these buildings at one time,” he said.
Earlier Chief Minister sought the details of a number of government buildings in the taluka and was told that out of 124 government buildings, 13 buildings with their roofs leaking are covered with plastics, “I want all these buildings should be without plastic in 3 months, also whichever building needs improvements, repair, renovation or refurbishment, has to be completed before December, and I wants to inaugurate all these refurbished building on 1st December.
Chief Minister also directed some of the offices to shift to old building of Community Health Centre after its refurbishments, some offices including SDPO (Dy. SP) Canacona and Civil Supplies to Disaster Shelter Home at Nagarcem, Excise and Legal Meteorogy to Govt Rest House at Shristhal, Fires Services to Disaster Shelter at Chapoli amongst other suggestions, but asked the departmental heads to like TCP, and others to decide for themselves to relocate their offices to the available buildings, as a temporary and stop-gap arrangement.
The transport office, which complained of a space crunch was told to expand their office arrangements in the KTC complex where the office is presently functioning.
On asking Chief Minister informed Canaocna Health Officer Dr. Jose Tavares that necessary doctors especially Specialists will have to be obtained on a Contract basis and agreed to post other staff at CHC. ‘Doctors are in shortage and some specialists unwilling to come, so you had to hire doctors on contract. Two Ambulances besides a 2-wheeler ambulance will be allotted soon.
Chief Minister announced that a new Taluka Administrative Building will be built in Canacona in the available government land where only Krishi Ghar for the Agriculture department was planned. ‘ Put up a plan and estimate to me for a better and spacious Administrative Building and I will consider it as a permanent solution for enhancing public access to governance.
The present government building (Dy. Collectorate) has only 16 government offices, in the new administrative building all or most government offices will be accommodated.
He said The Aadhar Enrollment Center will be opened in Canacona on 1st October. All the structural changes will be completed before December. All government buildings will be without plastic cover for two months.
Speaker and Canacona MLA Ramesh Tawadkar and CMC Chairperson Sara Naik Desai, besides Collector (South) Ashvin Chandru were present when the Chief Minister guided, suggested and ordered departmental officers including Dy. Collector, Mamlatdar, PWD (Buildings), and others.
“No person, particularly public coming for his works in the offices should go back disappointed and without getting his or her works undone. Give timely and prompt services to the people, don’t give unnecessary excuses and send back people. Give stress to yourself to find out how to help people,” Speaker said.
He added, the people should not say bad words, nor say useless to visit the office, that will be to you as well as to me.
“Let people say, the officer is very nice, he did my work very well. If you have an acute problem to solve any people problem, please talk to me directly one-to-one as we are here to provide solutions to the people solely with a clear intention to enhance public convenience and improve delivery of service,” he added.
The chief minister directed WRD, Caption of Ports and Fisheries should inspect the soil erosion at Galgibaga, and other coastal areas, updation of Talpona jetty, besides making arrangements for Canoe parking spaces in Palolem.
Hearse–Van will be allotted to Canacona.
Chief Minister also assured to repair the Saleri Bridge which has developed cracks at its concrete Spans on an immediate basis and directed PWD to inspect the bridge immediately.
