The Veej Andolan launched by Aam Aadmi Party is turning out to be a great success with not only a large crowd attending them and saying they want facilities like those provided to the people of Delhi but quite a number of them joining the party.
AAP has been organizing five to eight meetings every day and large number of people are not only attending but also participating in these meetings as they speak on the high electricity bills they receive and even get the bills for the meeting.
The speakers at these meetings besides explaining what the AAP government is doing for the people in Delhi also highlight the anti-Goan projects that are forcibly pushed forward by the BJP government in Goa even though the people are objecting to them.
People very openly express their disappointment with the Bharatiya Janata Party government in Goa and lament that they had changed the Congress and brought in BJP to make life easy for them but on the contrary the present government is proving to be the worst.
In Mandrem one local named Damodar Naik very vociferously said both the BJP and the Congress have not worked for the common people at all but only worked for themselves while a fisherwoman at Navelim cried out her woes over the high electricity bills specially during the lockdown when there was no business for her.
At Saligao, Ramchandra Shirodkar said people were frustrated with the political parties as they tried them with dismal failure and said AAP is the only choice for them now and joined the party as a volunteer. AAP Goa convener Rahul Mhambre pointed out that this is an indication of the fact that people are angry and frustrated.
While disclosing that over a 1,000 people have joined AAP during the veej Andolan programmes, Rahul said people from different socio economic status, caste and creed are joining AAP which proves that the party has appealed to all kinds of people in Goa.
“It is now very clear that the next assembly elections in Goa will be between the BJP and AAP as the Congress is totally decimated and people have lost faith in it and consider voting for Congress is as good as voting for BJP as its MLAs join the BJP after the results are declared,” said Rahul.
To prove his point Rahul referred to the recent survey conducted by India Ahead that shows that the Congress is totally decimated in Goa and the fortunes of the BJP is on the decline while that of AAP is on the rise.
“AAP is in the process of building and strengthening its organization in Goa and has now taken on the task of setting up booth level committees in various constituencies,” said Rahul adding that the booth committees will now keep in touch with the voters at the ward level.
